Sister Spotlight

Our Sister Spotlight for August is

Rachel Elizabeth Butler
**********************************
We are so grateful to have Rachel and her family join the Brownsville Ward.
We thank Rachel and her husband, Louis, for their wonderful talks this past Sunday.
If you were unable to be there, they spoke on parables and the beautiful messages and interpretations of the stories' intention to teach gospel truths.

Please take a moment to read on and get to know Rachel a little better.

Q:  How long have you been a member of the Church?

I was raised in the church, and except for times around birth of children where they are still too small to go in public and nursing/nap schedules I have always been active.

I have 3 sisters and 1 brother. I am the baby.

Anything yummy.

Q:  What are some hobbies and interests that you enjoy?

Mmmm, hobbies: I can do pretty much any craft that isn't crocheting, knitting, painting, or drawing. But I love to scrapbook, design and make my own clothes, sew, read, cook, organize. I enjoy plants, visiting with friends, having parties, camping, vacationing...I can't think of anything else at the moment, but I'm sure there is more. :)

Q:  What is an interesting fact you'd be willing to share about yourself?

We won a week long, all expense paid trip to New York city for New Years eve the year after we were married. It was amazing and incredibly fun to be in Times Square to see the ball drop. Only time we have won anything cool.

Q:  What is your favorite movie and/or book?

There are so many to choose from. I would say that it depends on my mood and how my day has gone.

Q:  What are some callings you have had in the Church?  Which one is your favorite and why?

I've been called to be laurel advisor, enrichment board, nursery, mia maid advisor, activities committee, enrichment leader, Music coordinator, Primary worker.-activities day leader. My favorite was activities committee. It was fun, and Louis and I were called together, which made it even more special because he was in law school at the time.

Q:  Do you have a favorite scripture?

It varies to what my purpose and mindset happens to be. But my favorite stories are the stories of Esther, and the Two Thousand Stripling warriors.
